Many Victorian women's periodicals, such as fashion magazines, newspapers and monthlies for the upper-class women featured illustrations, portraits or reproductions of art emphasising the Victorian beauty ideals. These visual representations of beauty work independently or in cooperation with poetry as a source that women may purchase for their own imaginative use or for practical use in enhancing their own physical beauty, the poetry articulating female beauty ideals.
